Breast Milk is LIFE: Easton's Story!

Hey Mamas,

Last week I introduced you to 11 year old, Easton. A little boy diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy when he was 6 months old. If you follow me on IG, you may notice that I post a lot about the benefits of breastmilk.  The power of this very special milk that moms produce. Easton’s story is even more proof that BREASTMILK is LIFE!

First, let me share a little information about what exactly SMA is. SMA also known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe. Unfortunately, many infants diagnosed with this disease don’t make it past 1 years old.

Because Easton and many others with SMA are unable to tolerate a high protein diet, breastmilk seems to be the perfect match for their systems. Not only that but because of breast milk and its tons of beneficial nutrients, Easton has been receiving breastmilk since he was a baby. Even before he was diagnosed with SMA. Breastmilk and a vegan diet is his primary source of food. This special diet keeps him pretty regular as well. Although constipation is very common in patients with this disease due to their muscle weakness, this has not been a problem for Easton. Because breastmilk is easy to digest, this helps so his system doesn’t have to work as hard to break down his food which is amazing.

Although Easton has this disease and struggles daily, it doesn’t take away from his happy and loving spirit. Easton loves to laugh, tell jokes and just enjoy life. Many children with this disease are unable to do a lot physically, however, this doesn’t stop Easton. He loves to camp, sing, and be outside and take in the simple things in life.

I wanted to share Easton’s story because I want moms to understand the GIFT that we hold. BREASTMILK is life. It’s more than just milk. Our breast milk is magical. It holds some very amazing stuff that kills cancer cells, heals wombs, and now we know helps patients with SMA. Breastmilk is Amazing!!! Thank you, Katie, for sharing Easton's story with me… With the world!! I PRAY THAT Easton continues to thrive and live his life full of love and laughter.
